Sheffield University Bankers Hockey Club - Sign Up
Hi, and a warm welcome,

If you are a Fresher or new to the area, then this is especially for you.

Are you ALREADY good enough to be a NATIONAL League player? If so, you're in!

Are you NEARLY good enough? If so, then you're almost in!

Are you GETTING better? If so, you too could be in!

Whatever your hockey skills and desires we at SUBHC will have something for you. We currently run 8 Men's sides and 1 Ladies' with most teams playing at decent levels...but what we can ensure is that you will enjoy your hockey with us.

At the Freshers' trials in September, our Club Captain and his team will be on hand with information and advice.

At the Freshers' Bazaar, you will have been told about the good relationship which exists between our two clubs and the benefits to be garnered by being a member of both.

Join us and see for yourself.

Initially, your key contacts are -- Lee "Touli" Toulson and Adam "Fletch" Fletcher both responsible for our top four teams and Matt "Monkey" Wilson who did a splendid job (last year) looking after the remaining sides. Details as follows:-
* Touli - 07764449814
* Fletch - 07903023630
* Monkey 07793052212

Our clubhouse is known as "The Notty" and is a mere long corner from the pitches. It's a tenanted pub, more traditional and is famous for it's terrific pies! The landlord Ritchie is not a bad chap either.

Finally, all that is now left for me to say is welcome - again - to Sheffield where I hope you have truly memorable times, make good friends, obtain super grades, get a top job in the area and help expand the SUBHC hockey family.

Yours Truly
Bob Hindle, Chairman

SUBHC "100" CLUB Grand PRIZE DRAW WINNERS
Hi, This was a most enjoyable evening and especially for ROSS KIMPTON who is still in shock..his number came up  THREE times and he very kindly put back his number which on that draw was worth £50.00!! He had already scooped £50.00 and then guess what he hit the main prize of £250.00. WOW and double WOW!
Because he was paid out by cheque he could'nt buy everyone a round but he has promised to buy me a Guiness this Saturday, so get yourself to the Notty and you too might strike lucky.

Mark "chopper" Connelly also won £50.00 but donated it back to the fund and the lucky beneficiary was Dave Denver!.Thank you Mark.

YOU GOTTA BE IN IT TO WIN IT!
The  lucky winners were:-
£250.00 Ross Kimpton....£150.00 Debbie Eberlin....£100.00 ..Sue Cotton( Mrs Jo Beahan's mum)....£50.00 Roy Platts...£50.00 Dave Denver..£50.00 Ross Kimpton

I said earlier it was a very pleasnt evening with an excellent buffet, plenty to drink and good chat amongst friends especially for the ladies who put up with alot before and during the season and our sincere thanks go to them.

Join the Polish club and you can drink till 1.00pm.

Finally, I've received quite abit of "100" club payments for next season which is really pleasing, so I would at this stage welcome your pledges at the very least when next we meet. Subhc will bebefit by over £1000.00 and I would be pleased to do the whole scheme again but only with at least the same level of support. Roll on the NEW SEASON. Bob(Chair)

EGM 9 June 2009
Just a quick note to thank all of you who attended last night's EGM and those of you who submitted your views by proxy.

There was a good attendance and all the important matters were either discussed in some depth or alluded to. The subs and match fee items which account for 66%+ of our income were agreed upon by a very large proportion of those present and we must now ensure we meet, nay exceed our targets so that we can start to build up our much depleted reserves.

"Pony" Stewart was elected Chair of Selectors and is now part of the strengthened EC team.

Training/access to pitches is still a problem but we are on the case.

The Notty is our new Clubhouse--a lickspittle away from the pitches--and I urge you to use it at every opportunity from now onwards and who knows we MIGHT get our palms crossed with some silver in the future. I'm a born optimist --my glass of Guiness is nearly always half full.. even when it's Ray's round.!

The Polish Centre will be our venue for EC meets, Selection meets and maybe other functions and I would like to thank all those who stayed behind and supped some decent polish lager till late. The Steward, Shawn,was highly chuffed.

Sorry this item has been longer than I intended but after about 3 seasons out of the frame, it's GREAT to be back helping the Club which has been so good to me over many years, in terms of friendships and giving me much enjoyment.

Thank you for the support shown so far and let's now translate this into actions, starting with Mo's trip to the dogs on tues 21 July Bob H ( Chair). [Submitted by banzai] [/html]

Tony Leadley
It is with deep regret that I have to announce the passing of Tony Leadley, a 1st XI full-back of many years.

Many club members living in Crookes will have frequently passed Tony in the street, but may never have realised his contribution to the club. He was a fine player, with what I am reliably informed was a 'cracking hit on him'. He was typically modest and self-effacing about his playing career, but was a well-liked and well-respected member of the club.

Tony's last direct involvement with the club was to attend the play-off game against Leek several years ago, when he remarked on the fine atmosphere in the crowd. He continued to take a keen interest in the fortunes of the club, and was particularly impressed when national league status was achieved.

I will be sending a condolence card to Tony's family on the club's behalf. If you would like to add your signature, a message of your own, or you would like details of the funeral arrangements, please contact me directly.
